Healthcare Reform

The SFLC has been working with the California Labor Federation and the It's OUR Healthcare coalition on passing meaningful healthcare reform at the state level. On Monday September 10, 2007, both the state Senate and Assembly passed AB 8, the labor-backed healthcare reform legislation. This important bill will establish a minimum standard, like the minimum wage, for employer health care spending. It will also help control the out-of-control growth of health care costs.

Governor Schwarzenegger, despite his public statements calling for reform, has vetoed the bill.
